fiamma BURGER

Filed under: Bellingham Restaurants — Bellinghamster @ 10:35 pm

My partner and I had some business to discuss. Why had we not yet gone to the new burger joint downtown?! I love my meat! So while the 5 year old was in art class Wednesday, we hopped it on down to fiamma Burger.

Oh my. Oh my goodness. Perfect burger (with fried onions). Perfect onion rings. How they got MIL’s (mother-in-law) recipe we don’t know and we don’t care. She’s in NY and fiamma is here with us, so we can still have her onion rings. I love onions, can you tell? Manga fiamma burger.

Diamond Jim’s Grill

We were looking for a great place to eat Sunday brunch and chose Diamond Jim’s Grill. Everyone in the family had eaten there before. Everyone except me.

We knew we’d have to get there early or there would be a wait. The dining room is cozy and the food is fantastic. Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, muffins, CORNED BEEF (my favorite) on and on and on we ate.

I think we had room in our bellies for a bowl of cereal later that day.

I remember a comedian who said: I don’t want to die old; I want to die full. Amen.

Xing’s Panda Palace at Sunset, Bellingham

It was time for lunch: Chinese food and Xing’s Panda Palace was it. Delectable. The last time I tasted Chinese food that wasn’t ‘Americanized’ was back in Flushing, NY. I can still smell the fried wonton and bbq spare ribs in their takeout bags, mmmmm.

Wonton soup, egg-drop, fried rice, beef and broccoli, spicy pork and vegetables and 3 egg rolls (they have cabbage in them – I love cabbage).

I didn’t eat all that alone. I went with my girlfriend. I couldn’t eat all that by myself! We go out to eat together for support companionship.

Oriento Fine Chinese Cuisine, Bellingham

My daughter and I were in need of some quality time together, so we went to a restaurant. They don’t leave us alone at home.

Right near her preschool in the Fountain District of Bellingham is a great Chinese restaurant, Oriento. It has big comfy booths and servers with huge smiles (of course everyone gives her a huge smile). We ate 3 egg rolls (we love cabbage), spicy mongolian beef and teriyaki chicken. I don’t know what it is about teriyaki, it’s like magic ketchup – put it on food and a kid will eat it. But, seriously, I had some and it was delicious. What really stood out was how fresh the food tasted.

Maybe we’ll bring the others with us next time…

Old World Deli Bellingham

Filed under: Bellingham local,Bellingham Restaurants,local,restaurants — Tags: , — Bellinghamster @ 8:37 am

The Old World Deli is for those of us who don’t live near Salumi in Seattle. It’s Bellingham’s answer to high quality deli meat and I was the one asking the question until they opened on State Street.

Hot corned beef and swiss with sauerkraut on toasted rye is pure bliss. Especially if you’re ALONE (sans children), sitting with an early spring view of Bellingham Bay.

And I get service with a smile (sometimes happy humming – love people who love their work).
