Come Cook With Nahla @ Mediterranean Specialties

Nahla is hosting a cooking class at Mediterranean Specialties August 23rd @ 7:15pm for those in love with ethnic cooking.

The menu is simple, but makes my mouth water in anticipation.

Halloumi and Green Figs Kebab
Fattoush
Hummus
Lamb Kebab
Fresh roasted veggies with pomegranate aiolli

Dessert is served with Lebanese coffee. $3 extra for a glass of wine.

In case you are unfamiliar with some of the menu, I will explain.

Halloumi is cheese made from a mix of goat’s and sheep milk. It has a high melting point, so is perfect for grilling and frying. Cheese and figs, hmm, sounds very good to me – where’s my wine?

Fattoush is a bread salad made with toasted or fried pita bread and mixed with seasonal greens/vegetables. Hummus is ground chick peas, sesame seeds w/seasonings. They are meze foods, or small dishes.

The countries bordering on the eastern Mediterranean Sea have traditional meze dishes:  fattoush, hummus, babaghaoush. They are small dishes meant to accompany a meal or to serve as a snack. This is similiar to Korean banchan dishes (kimchi, namul) and Spanish tapas (chorizo, empanadas) and Chinese dim sum.

I have lunch at Mediterranean Specialties often, so I truly look forward to a meal specially cooked for me. Perhaps she can use an eager prep chef or clean up crew for the future. I am experienced! Read my Community Food Co-op credentials…8-16-11
